About the Smartphone Round Robin
The first Rule of Round Robin is you do talk about Round Robin. As in: editors cannot call up another community editor and ask for help, or use and instant message or an email. All of their questions and impressions must be in the full view of the public.
This means two things. One: everybody gets to see the real plusses and minuses of these smartphones; more importantly, Two: it gives community members (you!) more chances to win by discussing the smartphones in "Round Robin tagged" forums. See Contest Rules for more details.
What Smartphones We're Using
- A Treo 680
- An iPhone
- A Blackberry 8310
- An AT&T Tilt
What you'll see
Each week our editors will be writing about their experiences with their new smartphones in several places:
- Their own sites' front pages:
- Each others' sites, and
- In our forums:
If you want to see how it's all going down, keep an eye on our updates page here or subscribe to the Round Robin RSS feed.
What We'll Do
It's important that we treat these smartphones by the same rules, so we'll all be attempting the following with each smartphone:
- Editors must use their assigned smartphone as their "main brain" and may not use any other smartphone OR music device (such as an iPod) for one full week.
- Editors must attempt to sync their phone to their computer, syncing all PIM data.
- Editors must attempt to set up their email on the smartphone
- Editors must attempt to use their smartphone to get directions at least once.
- Editors must attempt to use their smartphone with a bluetooth headset.
- Editors must attempt to install at least 2 3rd-party apps (if possible) on their smartphone.
- Editors must attempt to play a game
- Editors must attempt to browse the internet
- Editors must attempt to add music to their smartphone and use it as their music device.
- Editors must attempt to watch a video on their device.
